Rufaro Muchaka

Rufaro is a Research Assistant and contributor at the Democracy Action Lab, where she supports the lab's research on democracy, security, and state violence. She is a 2026 graduate from Stanford University, completing a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. Her research interests center on the relationship between law, sovereignty, and state coercive capacity, with a focus on Latin America and sub-Saharan Africa. Prior to joining DAL, she held research and policy positions at the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Stanford Humanities Center, and Oxford University. In Fall 2026, she will read for an MSc in Refugee and Forced Migration Studies at the University of Oxford.
