Carnegie Endowment Scholar Examines US Democracy Support in the Middle East [VIDEO]

 

 

In a webinar dated April 22, 2020, Carnegie Endowment for International Peace Fellow Sarah Yerkes discussed US democracy promotion policies during the Obama and Trump administrations. Yerkes argued that the shift in Washington's role as a democracy promoter – albeit reluctantly at times – to authoritarian enabler has made the task of democratic political reform far more challenging for people across the Middle East.
