Draper Hills Class 2019
Meet the Class of 2019
The Draper Hills Summer Fellows Class of 2019
Stanford’s Center on Democracy, Development and the Rule of Law is proud to announce our 2019 Draper Hills Summer Fellows who were selected from among hundreds of applicants for their ground-breaking work to defend democracy. These 26 leaders drawn from 26 countries around the world are pioneering new approaches and models to advance social and political change in some of the most challenging global contexts. Representing business, government and the non-profit sector, our fellows are working on the frontlines of democratic change to combat the global rise of authoritarianism and populism. In countries moving towards democracy, our fellows are working to institutionalize new systems and practices to support democratic transitions. Arriving to Stanford this July, these leaders will participate in a three-week training program led by an interdisciplinary team of faculty to study new theories and approaches to democratic development. Visits to Silicon Valley technology firms and practical workshops will complement the experience. Fellows will join a network of over 350 alumni from over 82 countries who have participated in the Draper Hills Summer Fellows Program since its launch in 2005. The program is generously funded by Bill and Phyllis Draper and Ingrid von Mangoldt Hills.
