Bio

Kevin specializes in sustainable development and urban innovation. He researches international cooperation on climate change (including city and sub-national coordination), coordinates participatory design processes, and develops sustainability strategies with companies, local communities, and national governments in the Asia-Pacific region.
 
From 2012-2013, he collaborated with Larry Diamond to create the online course "Democratic Development," also known affectionately as "The Democracy MOOC" (short for “massive open online course”). He later worked to develop Norway’s first online class for a global audience on international development, as well as Stanford’s first MOOC to be offered both in English and Chinese, "International Women's Health and Human Rights."
 
Kevin holds a B.A. in International Relations and B.S. in Earth Systems from Stanford University, and an M.S. in Civil & Environmental Engineering. In addition to design and development work, he has taught courses at Stanford in Urban Studies and International Policy Studies, such as International Urbanization, Defining Smart Cities, and UN HABITAT III: Bridging Cities and Nations.
 
He writes on political and cultural affairs in the Asia-Pacific region in publications such as Foreign Policy, Ketagalan Media, and the South China Morning Post.
