Bio

In collaboration with faculty, researchers, and students, Jonathan leads the POVGOV’s regional research and communication agenda. He provides direction, guidance, and innovation towards novel projects on violence, policing, and security in Latin America, while building POVGOV’s distinctive partnerships with governments, think tanks, and universities. With more than seven years of professional experience at public, private, and nonprofit organizations, he brings a complementary vision to strengthen POVGOV’s mission and goals.
Jonathan received his MPP from University of California, San Diego, and his BA in political science (with honors) from Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México. He is affiliated to Empirical Studies of Conflict, Mexican Center for Studies on Security, Intelligence and Governance, and Mexico’s Network of Public Policy Evaluators. Prior to joining POVGOV, Jonathan served as Director of Security Research at Mexico Evalúa, where he published several books on crime prevention and violence and advocated for better and more transparent microlevel crime records. His approach to management and leadership is informed by his experience working, spearheading, and implementing effective solutions to policy challenges as a experienced researcher and negotiator.
